Even after living in Germany for over five years, I often find myself in awe of some of the incredible places I get to visit. Sometimes I feel as though I stepped into a story book, that I am seeing fairy tale illustrations come to life. It's easy to see where much of the visual inspiration for Disney films comes from when you travel to some German cities. The village in Pinocchio was modeled on Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
The town has an old medieval wall surrounding it where you can walk around and have a nice vantage point down on the streets and houses. Not only did this give a different perspective for my photo-taking, but the weather was rainy and wet, so it kept us covered and dry during our visit.
We tried the Schneebälle (snowballs), round pastries covered in powdered sugar and chocolate which are a popular dessert in the area. Sven often suggests trying new things when we are traveling and I am happy he does. Usually, I'm perfectly content just looking in shop windows, but then I miss out on new tastes and experiences. The Schneebälle were so delicious! Of all the German cities I have seen, Rothenburg ob der Tauber has been one of my favorites.
