Summer Visit to the Milwaukee Art Museum

The Milwaukee Art Museum is itself a work of art. Its Quadracci Pavillion is a sculptural, postmodern addition overlooking Lake Michigan and was completed in 2001 by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The museum's ship-like exterior has opening and closing "wings" with a postmodern interpretation of a Gothic Cathedral as the main hall entranceway.

My timing of visiting in Chicago over the summer was perfect, as I got to see Posters of Paris: Toulouse-Lautrec and His Contemporaries, which will be open until the 9th of September. For anyone living in the Chicago area I would highly recommend visiting the museum to enjoy this dazzling collection of posters, including works by Jules Chéret, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Pierre Bonnar, and Alphonse Mucha.
